Post-divorce self-help

Divorce Decree Revisions

Life changes. Your divorce orders sometimes need to change with it.

We help you organize your information and prepare the applicable post-divorce modification documents for your state.

What can potentially be revised

Often revisable

  • Parenting time, holiday schedules and exchanges
  • Parenting plan terms
  • Child support amounts
  • Spousal support, where the state and your order allow it
  • Health insurance and uninsured medical cost sharing
  • Childcare and activity expense sharing

Generally not revisable

  • How marital property and debts were divided. Property division in a final judgment is generally final and is not treated here as routinely modifiable.
  • The divorce itself, or the grounds the divorce was granted on.
  • Terms your written order states cannot be changed — some orders make spousal support non-modifiable.
  • Anything that requires a judge to reinterpret or set aside the original judgment, which needs individualized legal analysis.

What is actually available depends on your state's own rules and on the wording of your existing order. The court decides whether a change may be made.

How it works

  1. Step 1

Choose your state and what you want changed

Every state handles post-divorce changes differently, so we start with your state and the provision in your order.

  2. Step 2

    Answer plain-language questions

Create your free account, upload your existing decree for reference, and tell us the current terms and the change you are requesting.

  3. Step 3

    Generate and download

Review your answers, generate the applicable documents for your state, and download them from your account.

You can upload your existing decree and any later orders to your secure account for reference. Uploaded originals are never altered.

Choose your state

Revisions are state-specific. We build each state from its own current official court materials, so a state appears here only once that review is complete.
